The
most classic destination is Orvieto,
the twin city with Bolsena which shares the
sacrality of the Corpus Domini.
To visit: The "Duomo",
St. Patrick's pit and the Etruscan
necropolis.
From
Orvieto you can go to "Civita di
Bagnoregio", the medieval town
called "The dying city".
In order to reach the ancient village, you have
to walk on a spectacular bridge exclusively
accessible to pedestrians.
From
Bagnoregio you can drive till Viterbo,
capital of the province.
To visit: the medieval quarter of San
Pellegrino, the Sanctuary of Saint
Rose, the Papal Palace,
seat of the longest "Conclave" of
the history of the Catholic Church.
While
4 kilometres far from Viterbo, yuo'll find the
magnificent "Villa Lante",
masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance.
You
can proceed toward Tuscania,
well known for the romanesque churches of "Saint
Peter" and "Santa Maria Maggiore"
and the etruscan necropolis.
From Tuscania you pass to Tarquinia
valuable for the etruscan necropolis with painted
tombs and the "Etruscan National Museum".
After Tarquinia we find Vulci
where you can visit the etruscan necropolis
near the castle and the Abbadia's bridge.
Another
itinerary is the one that will lead you till
Tuscany.
To see: Sovana a little town renowned for Ildebrando's
tomb.
Pitigliano with its ancient
town centre and finally Saturnia,
a famous thermal place in the heart of "Etruria".
With one hour of driving by car you can reach
Pienza and Montepulciano, as well as Siena and
Assisi.
